Atelier Marin was opened in 2005 by Amanda Madlener. Amanda is
a Bay Area native recently returned from ten years spent in New York
City. She has been designing, knitting and crocheting since a young
age when she was first taught by her aunt, Grace Cooper.
Grace opened Atelier Yarns in San Francisco over twenty years ago.
She has over 40 years of experience and her spirit and creativity
have been driving forces in the resurgence of knitting and crochet in
the Bay area over the last two decades. Although she has now
retired and Amanda manages both stores, you will still find Grace
teaching her workshops, with the same joy and passion that has
made her an icon.
Opening Atelier Marin was the realization of a dream for many years
and we would like to sincerely thank all of our customers and
supporters for the last seven years of success! It has been an honor
teaching, assisting and knitting with you and we look forward to many
